So I am coming to a close working on Sandy Lam’s new album. It’s a great album and the first one that has been mixed on our new addition at the studio, an SSL AWS 900SE+, formerly owned by Peter Gabriel.
The album is a very different sound from Sandy and I am excited to see the reaction. I think this is only the beginning of a long and strong working relationship with Sandy which I look forward to!!

Sandy Lam Press Conference
Tuesday, Jul 19, 2011
So my journey with Sandy Lam continues, after already working for the past 2 months on Sandy’s new and exciting album, Sandy asked me to work on re-arranging some of her songs for her upcoming concerts in September at Kitec in Kowloon Bay. So yesterday I was aksed to attend the Press Conference at Kitec alongside Anthony Lun, Jun Kung, and Chris Polanco (the full musical arrangement team for Sandy’s concert).
After rushing around Central trying to find a nice shirt (in my size its pretty hard) I managed to grab a lift with Jun Kung up to the event. I dragged alongside Spencer Douglass as my photographer/assistant to help me out.
After a briefing with the production time we were stored away in the green room, Sandy popped in looking absolutely stunning and said high to all of us. We chatted for a while and then Sandy was whisked off to stand in front of the growing number of press in the main Marquee.
After about 30 mins or so we were taken backstage and waited for out turn to be introduced. Anthony was brought on first as he has worked with Sandy for many years both as a musical director and producer. Then it was my turn to get on stage, I gotta admit I was kind of nervous. I am very much a behind the scenes guy and getting on stage or in front of camera always gives me the screaming hibee gibees.
But it wasn’t as bad as I thought, the host Derek got Sandy to introduce me and give a little background on who I am and want I was doing in the concert. Then Chris and Jun were brought on in that order. Once on stage we were asked how we met Sandy and to speak a little about ourselves. Even though most of it was in Cantonese both Sandy and Jun spoke very highly of me which I was very grateful for. We had a lot of fun (as you can see from the photo) and I started to relax.
Next up was Chris had prepared a small sample of the Latin flavoured arrangement he is doing for Sandy and we were then handed bits of percussion and so ensued an impromptu performance with everyone on stage. At the end we all stood together and for some photos. I wish I had actually worn my sunglasses then as the flashes from all the photographers almost blinded me. I was seeing little white spots for about 10 minutes afterwards.
Anyway thanks to Sandy and all her team for including and giving me some good local press, also thanks for Jun and Lorna for getting me up there on time, and last but not least thanks for Spencer for getting in the press pit and getting some great photos, afterwards Spen felt it had to put on a tough face to next to me and Chris.
